Sabah Parks and Semporna Islands Project to work together with local communities and improve the sustainability and productivity of farms by developing a private public partnership and co-managed farms to grow the sector of sustainable sea cucumber aquaculture in Sabah, Malaysia. Current proof of concept activities, trials and a pilot farm are being funded by WWF-Malaysia until 2026.

Lautoka & Great Sea Reef, Fiji

Working on WWF’s Great Sea Reef Resilience Program (GSRRP) under Matanataki, ASA has been developing an innovative community-shared mariculture business centred around sea cucumber (H. scabra) farming to ensure that the Great Sea Reef is healthy and resilient to a changing climate. Similarly, ASA has been working with Triton’s Reef to develop a sea cucumber aquaculture business owned by iTaukei mataqali of Matarisiga in Lautoka. This business has been active harvesting wild-catch and aims to transition to include hatchery-based farming and restocking of juveniles to replenish wild-catch.
